Tour of Utah Final Stage, Park City, Utah - Aug 10th

The Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah is undoubtedly, America’s toughest professional cycling stage race of America and its ninth edition being held in August promises to be the most grueling to date.  The Race encompasses a large area of the state.  For the first time it will include Bryce Canyon National Park. The race consists of six stages over as many days. The last two stages of this torturous and stamina sapping race will be played out in picturesque Park City, high in the Wasatch Mountains.

The fifth stage unfolds here on with the ultimate test of human endurance requiring the champions climb Guardsman’s Pass on August the 10th. The next day sees the grand finale comprising of two climbs over Wolf Creek Ranch and Empire Pass to finally end to a rapturous welcome by 40,000 spectators lining the historic Main Street. That this is no ordinary race is borne out by the participation by top rated professional teams from around the world including the entry of new top-rated teams from Brazil, South Africa, and Australia. For American cycling enthusiasts, this has to be the holy grail of cycling stage racing.

If you are a cycling enthusiast yourself, you might want to come down to Park City, this August. Not only will you get to see the grand culmination of this great cycling race, you will also be able to enjoy the scenic beauty and balmy weather of Park City in summer. With some of the best horseback riding, mountain biking, and trekking trails in breathtaking Alpine terrain, you would be able to spend your time well, while you wait for the Tour of Utah champions to make it to the finishing line.

Do stay on after the race is over and you will discover what the celebrated Park City life is all about.  You can have the choicest gourmet cuisines in the hundreds of restaurants that abound in the area or you may want to attend a concert or a world class theatrical performance. Or if you fancy more of the outdoors stuff, try your hand at fly fishing, water skiing, or even hot air ballooning.

Getting to Park City is the easiest thing in the world. All you need to do is catch a plane to Salt Lake City International Airport and then drive up the mountain for about thirty minutes. There is a range of fantastic accommodations to suit every requirement, and you will find yourself in the thick of things in no time. Considering that this race is highly popular and attracts a lot of visitors, you may want to plan your trip already.
