Theater sublime in Park City this August

“Act well your part; there all the honor lies.” - Alexander Pope

Nothing in the world can compare with the experience of witnessing theater at its best. And if the venue happens to as special as the Egyptian Theatre on the historic Main Street in the lovely mountain town of Park City, you are in for a truly special experience. On the 15th, 16th and 17th of August, at 8 pm in the evening, this grand theater will be the venue for one of the finest plays written by Neil Simon- Lost in Yonkers.  Early shows of the play will be held on the 17th at 4 p.m. (Saturday) and there is an early 6 p.m. showing on the 18th (Sunday).

Widely acclaimed as one of Simon’s best works, the play is a coming of age tale of children who have to contend with the loss of their home and build their lives anew. This poignant tale will make you both laugh and weep as you follow the lives of its characters, ultimately leading to a dramatic final confrontation. This truly is a special work of art, the likes of which you don’t get to witness every day. There is a reason this play was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1991 in the Best Drama category. It also won four Tony Awards on Broadway.

Judging by the immense popularity of this play, one may want to pick up the tickets now before they sell out. These are priced at a reasonable $23 and up. You can go online to check out all the details and book them in advance. If you are planning to come up for this great play by Neil Simon, it’s fortuitous that you are doing so in summer. This is the time when Park City’s vibrant arts and entertainment culture comes to the fore. With film festivals, fairs, concerts, sporting events, parades and of course, theater happening every other day; life is a whirlwind of one event after the other day.
